Born in 1984, Vaan Ip graduated in Fine Arts from Hong Kong Art School. Working in ink, his style is unique, presenting his view of cityscapes. He is increasingly recognized and has won the attention of private art collectors who have accumulated his key works.
Vaan explores the relationship among people, himself and his home city Hong Kong. His paintings intersect with his sense of the city and his childhood memories. The works not only convey the artist´s feelings, but resonate with his audience. Vaan´s visual elements depict the characteristics of a crowded city • both unity and structure. Also, he encourages the audience to reflect on the idea of space in all its forms.
About Finding Neverland Series
The reality of time is short-lived; the society is constantly ever changing. When my mind is fed up and my soul is lost, I look for a space where I can step back from the worries of this world, and in which I hope to find mirth and a lightness of being away from the struggles of life. Through a mental journey for relaxation, I have turned back the time, trying to depict the innocent bliss of childhood. My precious childhood memories in a way have evolved into a paradise in my mind, whereas all the complicated matters varnish into a simple status quo. This is where the Neverland is, where my dreams and hopes are still preserved, and where my minds are at ease.
